About Holly

Holly Hunter is an artist who resides in Nova Scotia, Canada. Born in Zweibrucken, Germany, Holly grew up in a military family and has had the good fortune to live in several communities across Canada. As a child, she always enjoyed exploring nature and being outside. She also liked to express and entertain herself through music, drawing, crafts, and designing and sewing her own wardrobe.

Holly began painting in 2004 and in 2008 she retired from a career as a professional accountant and traded in her accounting skills for a paintbrush. Since then she has attended classes with various professional artists. She has painted in other mediums but she primarily works in oils.

In addition to her creative endeavours, Holly is an avid downhill skier, paddler and golfer — activities that encourage her to paint a lot of mountains, water and scenery. She prefers to use her own photographs and life experiences as inspiration for her paintings. She uses vivid colours, contrasts and texture to create motion and life in her art. Her goal is to create a three-dimensional scene that will have an immersive effect on the viewer.
